DAY OF GIVING - COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS
One of the most rewarding conference activities is the day of service. EWMC volunteers arrive a day before the conference begins to sign up to volunteer for community service projects in the Chicago community. The purpose is to honor the legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by helping those in need who are unable to otherwise help themselves. We strive to leave the surrounding Chicago community better than when we arrived by contributing our skills and talents in the areas in need.
The EWMC Chicago chapter has identified disadvantaged communities, organizations, women, men and youth, dislocated families and elderly residents in the community. Projects include electrical work, painting, gardening, food bank worker assistance, special projects at homeless shelters, churches, juvenile and senior facilities, and schools in the area. EWMC members take great pride in their community work. In January, let’s show Chicago the real meaning of brotherhood and sisterhood. Sign up early for the "Day of Giving" that takes place Thursday morning, January 16, 2020 at 6:30 am.
