Local 18 August 2019 Chapter Report
Updated On: Sep 13, 2019

Since our last report, we’ve added five new members.  That brings our total membership to 30 members.

We donated $2,500 to the Reach Day 2019-Back to school August 10th event.  The organization Reach Day works with underprivileged youth in inner-city communities throughout Los Angeles.  In addition to the donation, we are setting up a booth to discuss IBEW Local 18 Utility Pre-Craft Training Program (UPCT) which helps Los Angeles residents with a valid driver’s license sign the books at Local 18 to learn different skills at LADWP and training to pass Civil Service exams.

Our chapter is currently working with the Omega Education Foundation to support its 25th annual Youth Leadership Conference on October 20, 2019.  This organization has touched the lives of over 7,300 young men, and focus on self-esteem, health, and wellness, family unity, academic growth, etc.  We will be giving a $2,500 donation to support the conference and setting up a table to discuss our UPCT program.

Our Chapter discusses Voter Registration at every meeting and we make sure to have applications available to distribute.

Our chapter is currently working on a Back to School Drive to fill 200 backpacks with school supplies for a few Los Angeles Public Schools.  Our members are collecting donations June 20th- August 22nd and will be distributing the backpacks the week of August 26th

Our chapter will participate as we do every year and will provide more details in future reports.
